Description Hydraulic robot arm kit

We all dream of building our own robot. Unfortunately, it soon turns out that anything beyond a robot fighting machine for Robot Wars is a bit more complex. This kit, however, allows you to build a fully functional, hydraulic robot arm. The arm is the little brother of the large industrial robots that lift car parts around, for example. Your robot arm won't be able to lift objects quite that big, but it will definitely be able to lift model cars. :)

Before you can start lifting and transporting, you first have to assemble the robot arm. The kit consists of over 50 parts and the frame itself is made of wood. Don't worry about the many different pieces, each robot arm comes with detailed and illustrated instructions that guide you through the construction step by step. The assembly does take a while, depending on your experience as a robot engineer ;) In addition to the kit, you will need a ruler, scissors and - most importantly - glue (included). And, of course, water for the cylinders.

Once everything is in the right place, adjusted and fixed and the cylinders and hoses are filled with water, the robot arm is ready for use. Now you should first try out how sensitive the arm is and how it can best be controlled. As soon as you have got used to each other, you can lift all kinds of small objects, move them a little and put them down again. Perhaps to sort your Warhammer figures? Or to build your own little production line? Depending on what exactly you want to grab, you can adjust the gripping surfaces a little.

The robot arm also teaches you about hydraulics. The most important information can also be found in the instructions. The kit is suitable for children of primary school age and above. If you want, you can also control the arm as a team, with everyone responsible for one of the cylinders. This means, for example, that one person would control the rotating base, one the joint and another the gripper. You can see the range of movement of the finished arm in the photos. There you can also see the finished cylinder holder, which is used to control the robot arm. All you have to do is use the pistons to push the right amount of water into the hoses or let it out again. Just hydraulics ;)
